On May 23, 1981, Capt. Dale Perez with angler Tom Evans set out on a Homosassa morning looking for Mr. Big. They came back with the IGFA World Record fly rod tarpon…186.8 lbs. on 15 pound tippet…at the time, the largest tarpon ever landed on a fly, using a Lamiglass 11/12 wt. rod and a “Little John” Emery fly reel.
