The salmon fly hatch started real good on the upper Big Hole but two days of rain and high water make for tough sledding over there now…levels shot up to almost 5000cfs at Maiden Rock. Take your chances.

The release at Hebgen dam has gone into lockdown with a serious drop all the way to 942cfs as of today. Quite fishable and wadeable on the upper stretches of the Madison right now. Clarity remains to be seen after two solid days of soft rain.

1620cfs at West Fork gauge means both Shelton and Kelly bridges are safe but be aware of lurking danger like sunken cottonwood trees. We have had two days of rain, so I’m anxious to see water quality when the sun comes up tomorrow. Catch ’em up.
